Referees Poll and Ivanov not picked for next round

Fifa has made its referee selections for the next round of play.

Two referees not selected were:
Graham Poll
Valentin Ivanov

Graham Poll made a error in his first round match between Croatia and Australia. A Croatian defender was issued 3 yellow cards, while clearly the rules state two yellow cards and the player is out of the game with an immediate red card.

Valentin Ivanov was likely not chosen due setting World Cup records as he issued 16 yellow cards and 4 red cards in the game between Portugal and Netherlands.

Some will remember Luis Medina awarding a debatable penalty kick in the Italy vs Australia game. He is scheduled to officiate the Brazil vs France QuarterFinal.

Michael Kralj
